Gender in STEM and beyond: the implications of precarity in the academic workforce for gender diversity in STEM fields with Barbara Read, CR&DALL core member. This webinar will take place on June 22nd, 13:00-14:00 as part of the School of Education’s Education Leadership and Policy Series.

In this paper I will be discussing the issue of gender in/equalities in STEM fields, in the UK, India, and Rwanda – the three countries where fieldwork is being conducted by the Gendered Journeys project team, looking at the experience and trajectories of students and employees in skilled employment in STEM fields.  I will be combining this focus with a look at precarity in the academic workforce, and the extent to which this affects issues of equality and diversity in terms of representation in STEM fields, and the potential effects of the ongoing Covid pandemic on these dynamics.
