Welcome to the June MOJA Newsletter. Depending on where you are on the continent, it’s either starting to get hot or cold. Partners continued to surprise us in June, sharing amazing examples of ongoing adult education efforts. Encouragingly, we have seen a lot of movement in regard to policies and strategies, with the introduction of new legislation in Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania – highlighting civil society’s work in partnership with government for the expansion of adult education. MOJA continues to grow with new features, such as our Country Profile section – standby for the addition of a new country in July. We encourage organisations from across Africa to reach out to us and send us information about you and your work so we that can add you to our Organisations page. Also coming in July – Issue 2 of the MOJA Journal of Adult Education.

Bienvenue dans notre bulletin mensuel MOJA de juin 2024. Selon l'endroit où vous vous trouvez sur le continent, il commence soit à faire chaud, soit à faire froid.  En juin, nos partenaires ont continué à nous surprendre en partageant des exemples incroyables d'efforts continus en matière d'éducation des adultes. De manière encourageante, nous avons constaté beaucoup de mouvements en ce qui concerne les politiques et les stratégies, avec l'introduction de nouvelles législations au Malawi, en Ouganda et en Tanzanie, mettant en évidence le travail de la société civile en partenariat avec le gouvernement pour l'expansion de l'éducation des adultes. This is in keeping with the principles of adult learning and education (ALE) which encourages adults to acquire various skills to help them economically and to develop as individuals.

On May 24, 2024, representatives from various pilot districts gathered for a transformative peer learning visit to the Hogoro Community Learning Centre (CLC) in Kongwa. Hosted by DVV International, this visit brought together stakeholders from ministries, district councils, and community learning centres to share expertise, explore a functional CLC model, and strengthen Adult Learning and Education (ALE) services in the pilot districts.
