There is now an opportunity to join the International Council of Adult Education (ICAE)’s Academy of LifeLong Learning Advocacy – IALLA.
It is with great pleasure that we report that Professor Budd Hall has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition of 'his contributions as a pioneer in the field of Community-based research, and for his advancement of knowledge building and research capacity around the world'. This award is administered on behalf of the sovereign, King Charles III, by the Governor-General of Canada and is how the country 'honours people who make extraordinary contributions to the nation'.
The UNESCO Chair on Global Adult Education of the University of Malta has just concluded a seminar on this important anniversary. It was a half-day celebratory event with a variety of presentations and discussions.
Zimbabwe has always been one of those countries which I had a curious fascination with and a deep interest in visiting. Formerly known as Southern Rhodesia, it was granted its independence from Britain in1980 and since then has been working to develop its economy and to take its place in the modern world.
An international conference took place in Chisinau, Moldova on 9-10 November 2022 on the role of ALE in the development of local communities with extensive participation from Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo and the Ukraine. It was part of the DVV International Regional Project for Eastern Neighbours and jointly organized with the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA). In addition to the countries mentioned above there were interesting case studies also from Germany, Greece and Sweden as well as the European Training Foundation (ETF).
The next CR&DALL seminar will be held on 7 December at 1030 GMT in hybrid form at the University of Glasgow’s Advanced Research Centre, Room 5125 and online.
It is being led by Professor Robbie Guevara, President of the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), and is a reflection on UNESCO’s CONFINTEA VII conference in Morocco. We are very fortunate to get this opportunity to hear from Robbie, who is a very engaging speaker, bringing huge expertise to bear on the issues to be discussed.
Tickets are now available for the Standing Conference on University Teaching and Research in the Education of Adults (SCUTREA) and the Universities Association for Lifelong Learning (UALL) to be held from June 6th - 9th 2022 hosted by the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Research & Development in Adult and Lifelong Learning (CR&DALL).
Postcolonial Directions in Education is a peer reviewed open access journal produced twice a year. It is a scholarly journal intended to foster further understanding, advancement and reshaping of the field of postcolonial education. We welcome articles that contribute to advancing the field.
We are saddened that the present AEQ editors, Ellen Boeren, Kevin Roessger,and Liz Roumell will be stepping down at the end of their term. We extend our deep thanks for the wonderful job they have done with the journal. We are now looking for the next set of editors.
NCRM is delighted to bring you the 2021 Research Methods e-Festival in collaboration with methods@manchester. Held on 25-29 October 2021, the event will be a celebration of research methods with an interdisciplinary social science flavour.
