Philosophy and Museums - Royal Institute of Philosophy Annual Conference 2013
I draw your attention to an upcoming conference and series of public events running from 23rd – 26th July. The conference is sponsored by the Royal Institute of Philosophy and the public events are sponsored by the School of Education and the School of Humanities.

The Conference poster and agenda are available below. In addition to the O’Neill lecture, I’m particularly keen to draw attention to the free public events at the Burrell on the afternoon of the 25th:
Thursday 25th July
9.30 - 11.00 Graham Oddie, University of Colorado at Boulder, ‘What do we see in Museums?’ (Art History Lecture Theatre, Hunterian Art Gallery, University of Glasgow). Introduction by Professor Bob Davis, editor of the Journal of Philosophy of Education (sponsor of this lecture). Open to all. No registration required.
11.10 Depart for Burrell Collection by coach

Free time to view the collection and have lunch 11.30 - 1.00.
1.00 - 3.00 Presentations of research projects on Philosophy and Museums by advanced students from Hutchesons’ Grammar School (Burrell Collection Lecture Theatre). Introduced by Leon Robinson (University of Glasgow). Open to all. No registration required.

3.15 – 4.40 Public lecture and demonstration by Charles Taliaferro, St. Olaf College, Minnesota, and Jil Evans, Traffic Zone Center for Visual Arts, ‘How To Get Into A Work Of Art’. Followed by open discussion (Burrell Collection Lecture Theatre). Open to all. No registration required.
