CR&DALL core member, Geng Wang is part of the team organising an Early Career Researcher online event on academic dissemination (in the area of vocational education and training) on behalf of the Journal of Vocational Education and Training (JVET)’s Early Career Researcher Group on Thursday, 12 October 2023, 09:00 – 11:00 (UCT); 11:00 – 13:00 (CET)
We are delighted to publish the latest CR&DALL Briefing Paper from CR&DALL member, Dr Yvonne Skipper, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Education within the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, The paper entitled, ‘Education in Prisons’, considers the ways in which educational opportunities can be created in prison settings, and draws upon her own work in the White Waters Writers project which involved male prisoners collaboratively writing and publishing a full-length novel for their children.
This year's #ALW2023 theme encourages people to seize the moment and take advantage of opportunities to learn something new, whatever their age, background or previous educational history.
There’s no use-by date when it comes to learning. Re-engaging with learning as an adult offers plenty of life-changing moments. There’s the thrill of discovering hidden talents, the satisfaction of learning new skills, and the excitement of imagining a new and different future.
The Journal of Vocational Education has issued a call for a special edition that explores the social role of colleges in international perspectives (featured below and attached).
A new book, Access, Lifelong Learning and Education for All, has just been published in the Palgrave Studies in Adult Education and Lifelong Learning (PSAELL) book series, and is edited by Gareth Parry, Peter Scott and CR&DALL Director, Mike Osborne.
My colleagues (Dr Saikat Maitra, Indian Institute of Management Kolkata, India; Prof. Dr. Matthias Pilz, Univ. of Cologne, Germany) are editing a special issue of the journal, Educationa and Training, entitled, 'Not in high regard: an exploration of low reputation of vocational education in the Global South'.
This special issue will explore a comparative analysis of the factors behind the lower reputation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Global South.
This book takes an expansive view of vocational education and training. Drawing on case studies across rural and urban Uganda and South Africa, the book offers a new way of seeing this through an exploration of the multiple ways in which people learn to have better livelihoods.
