CR&DALL is pleased to feature the first edition of the Global Network of Learning Cities Newsletter:
More than one quarter of adults in the ACT don’t have the skills they need to cope with the demands of everyday life[1].
You are invited to A Learning Agenda, a workshop exploring solutions to this issue.
In the ACT, 31% of adults are functionally illiterate. While they can read and write some, they do not have the skills to follow a recipe, or accurately read a medicine label.
An Australian Learning Communities Network, Regional Conference will be held in Townsville, Queensland on 8 May 2014 with the theme, Communities learning together. The details of the programme are attached and can be found at this link.
This event at Frankston City in Victoria, Australia is for practitioners and community members with an interest in lifelong learning, community education, training and community development
It brings together international, national and regional speakers and projects. According to the website, 'this may be the best value conference you’ll ever attend!'
I hope that the speakers can live up to expectations.
The event will be officially opened by the Nick Wakeling MP, Minister for Higher Education & Skills.
An important publication as part of the GUNi Series on the Social Commitment of Universities, this Palgrave Global University Network for Innovation publication is launched by an eminent group of speakers in a seminar chaired by Professor John Briggs, Vice-Principal (Senate Office), University of Glasgow. Refreshments, discount flyers and an inspection copy will be available at the meeting. All welcome. No fee but prior registration required.
This is a reminder that there is still time to submit papers and to register for the Learning Cities 2020 Workshop in Tampere, Finland on 12-13 June 2014. I am very pleased to inform you that we have finalised the Conference Report of the Beijing Conference on Learning Cities (please find attached).
A Council for Education in the Commonwealth conference hosted by the University of Glasgow and CR&DALL.
Globally, international student mobility is growing fast, with 4 million students registered for advanced courses outside their home country.

The objective of the conference is to bring about awareness of the role and needs of local communities in relation to learning, and to seek smart solutions in which cities and other public organizations can play a greater role in response to those needs.
This Conference sought to establish where we were in Scotland with regard to social mobility and widening access to college and university and sought to make stronger connections amongst the practitioner, policy and research communities.
