This seminar is timed to follow the release of the Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning's final report and will focus on the findings of the report, including best practice in community learning, improving links between colleges and businesses, the role of technology in supporting adult learning and improving the quality of teaching in the sector overall.
Bringing together key policymakers and stakeholders - including colleges, trade unions, employers, local authorities and training providers - the seminar will also provide an opportunity to reflect on initial findings from the pilots of Community Learning Trusts, the Government's proposed new approach to adult/community learning delivery.
We are delighted that Judith Compton, Assistant Director, UK Commission for Employment and Skills; David Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, NIACE; Frank McLoughlin, Principal, City and Islington College and Chair, Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning and Eoin Parker, Deputy Director, Pre-employment and Skills, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.

Community Learning Trusts
This report is a thematic review on the setting up of the Community Learning Trusts pilots (CLTs) from the scoping visit and first round of visits in November and December. There are references to individual CLTs and a selection of short case studies but these are summaries of activity rather than detailed accounts.
