Westminster Employment Forum Keynote Seminar - The future of adult and community learning

This seminar is timed to follow the release of the Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning's final report and will focus on the findings of the report, including best practice in community learning, improving links between colleges and businesses, the role of technology in supporting adult learning and improving the quality of teaching in the sector overall.

Bringing together key policymakers and stakeholders - including colleges, trade unions, employers, local authorities and training providers - the seminar will also provide an opportunity to reflect on initial findings from the pilots of Community Learning Trusts, the Government's proposed new approach to adult/community learning delivery.

We are delighted that Judith Compton, Assistant Director, UK Commission for Employment and Skills; David Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, NIACE; Frank McLoughlin, Principal, City and Islington College and Chair, Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning and Eoin Parker, Deputy Director, Pre-employment and Skills, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.

Professor Alan Brown, Professorial Fellow, Institute of Employment Research, University of Warwick; Nicola Bryant, Business Development Manager, Birmingham City Council; Professor Karen Evans, Chair in Education (Lifelong Learning), Institute of Education, University of London; Tricia Hartley, Chief Executive, Campaign for Learning; Clare Latham, Adult Learning Manager, Cheshire West and Chester Council; Ros Parker, Chief Executive, Aspire Sussex; Ruth Spellman, Chief Executive and General Secretary, Workers' Educational Association and Dereth Wood, Group Director of Adult Skills, learndirect have also agreed to speak, together with a senior speaker confirmed from Exeter College.
